Fieldhand Vineyards was founded by Patrick O’Brien in 2016, beginning with the revival of a neglected half-acre of Cabernet Sauvignon in St. Helena. With no formal training, he learned through hands-on experience, dedicating himself to restoring backyard vineyards using organic, minimal-intervention practices. Today, Patrick works with a handful of vineyards each year across Napa and Sonoma Counties, nurturing natural ecosystems while producing small, handcrafted lots. Some wine is returned to landowners, and the remainder forms the Fieldhand label. Fieldhand Vineyards operates as both a micro-winery and vineyard management company, sourcing grapes from like-minded growers to expand its portfolio. Patrick’s approach emphasizes honesty, purity, and purpose, celebrating the full circle from soil to bottle. Every step is done by hand, reflecting a deep respect for the land, the vines, and the craft of winemaking.

Casey Graybehl grew up in San Ramon, California, where wine was a fixture in the household, thanks to his parents’ passion for it. Childhood visits to Napa and Sonoma left lasting impressions—running among barrels, smelling the cellar, and connecting early with the magic of winemaking. Years later, Casey found himself at a small Santa Maria winery, where a barrel sample of Grenache from Ballard Canyon captivated him and set the course for his future. In 2013, while working at Obsidian Wine Company in Sonoma, he launched his own label, dedicated to Grenache Noir. Casey crafts wines with whole-cluster fermentation, native yeast, and minimal intervention, seeking purity, balance, and terroir expression. As a one-man operation, he handles everything—from vineyard to bottle, emails to social media—with authenticity and passion, driven not by trends but by love for the craft of winemaking.
