Las Jaras Winery, founded by Eric Wareheim and Joel Burt, is known for crafting vibrant, expressive wines with minimal intervention and maximum soul. Based in California, Las Jaras champions low-intervention methods, native yeast fermentation, and organically farmed grapes to create wines that are fresh, playful, and food-friendly. 2024 Paşaeli Sidalan Pet Nat Brut Natural
• Aegean, Turkey
• 100% Sidalen
• Organic
Paşaeli Winery, established in 2002 by Seyit Karagözoğlu, is a boutique estate in Turkey's Aegean region, dedicated to producing high-quality wines from indigenous and international grape varieties. After a decade as a wine importer, Karagözoğlu founded Paşaeli to craft wines that reflect Turkey's diverse terroirs and rich viticultural heritage. The estate encompasses vineyards in regions like Kaynaklar and Hoşköy, where they cultivate both native varieties such as Sidalen and many others. Paşaeli is committed to preserving and reviving Turkey's indigenous grapes, many of which are rare or nearly extinct, by sourcing cuttings from the few remaining growers and replanting them in their vineyards. The winery emphasizes organic practices and minimal intervention winemaking to produce wines that showcase the unique characteristics of each variety and terroir. From old bush-trained Sıdalan vines, this is the first Pet-Nat ever produced in Türkiye. Naturally sparkling, it captures the raw purity of Mount Ida’s northern slopes.
Tasting Notes: Pale color; the nose is aromatic with rich notes of red apples, pear cider, daisies and herbal, with a strong mineral character. Bright, crisp, and elegant in the mouth with well-formed bubbles, textured and fresh finish. Pair with oysters, shellfish or as an aperitif.
