Aphros Wine, founded in 2003 by Vasco Croft in Portugal’s Vinho Verde region, is a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture. Situated on the historic Casal do Paço estate, the winery embraces holistic farming practices that integrate soil, plants, animals, and cosmic rhythms. Certified by Biodyvin since 2016, Aphros employs biodynamic preparations, cover crops, and natural plant extracts to enhance vineyard vitality and biodiversity. In the cellar, traditional methods prevail: indigenous yeasts, minimal intervention, and fermentation in ancient granite lagares and amphorae. The wines, crafted from native Loureiro and Vinhão grapes, express the unique terroir of the Lima sub-region. Aphros exemplifies sustainable winemaking, producing vibrant, terroir-driven wines that reflect a deep respect for nature and tradition.

2024 Vinos Pijoan Árbol de Fuego Rosé Blend

Vinos Pijoan, founded in 2002 by Pau Pijoan in Valle de Guadalupe, is a family winery rooted in natural winemaking and sustainable practices—using owls and snakes for pest control instead of chemicals. In 2016, Pau’s daughter Silvana, a former dancer, joined the project, bringing new energy and a passion for minimal-intervention methods that highlight Baja’s distinct terroir. By 2019, she launched Árbol de Fuego, her own natural wine label under the family umbrella, working with estate fruit and like-minded local growers. Silvana’s wines reflect a blend of tradition and innovation, honoring the region while pushing boundaries. Today, Vinos Pijoan stands as a pioneer in Mexico’s natural wine movement, known for its expressive, honest wines and multigenerational vision.

Tasting Notes: The 2024 Vinos Pijoan Árbol de Fuego is a vibrant, unfiltered natural wine blending Zinfandel and Grenache. It offers aromas of ripe red berries, juicy peach, and floral notes, complemented by hints of cinnamon and puff pastry. On the palate, it presents a bright, crunchy texture with refreshing acidity and a balanced structure.
